Half Way HOME

You see fading light ,as the Sun goes down

The cut green grass ,as the last bell toll sounds .

She let him go and he just drove

away.

She realised now ,she had made it ,

half way home !

Tbe door closed and she sat back down

Spread out all the wrinkles before she laid down.

One side remained empty , as a teardrop fell.

She realised ,as she had failed

to make amends .

She was half way home , that same old song , playing it over again.

The tears rolled down,

As the last rose petals dropped ,

Mixture of black , red and blue ,

Hearts colours , all were true.

He had passed “Go” , never made it home .

That old road of blues , that was his home .

She laid him to rest , as she lay down ,

She cried and cried knowing he had left her again !

She sat back up and started her day ,

Yes , she sang out ! She shakes the tears away .

He had never made it home again , same old , played over , her yesterdays!

She was half way home ,

Her kitchen was warm .

She was half way home , the kids all crowded around , it’s ok MOM,

we are here with you !

She had made them , a HAPPY home !

She hummed and nodded her head.

She swept out the porch .

She looked out , at that old blues road .

She heard its tunes , that still beckoned and called her out !

The vibes met her, to tell her ,

She was still just half way home .

You left me that letter ,

It in that old dresser drawer,

So , many notes , piled and withered and torn !

It was all she had of him,

A blues widow , she reached out to hear him once again ,

She was half way home .
